Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer

You will be designing and reviewing of electrical designs for the successful delivery of commercial, industrial and residential electricity infrastructure projects up to 11KV. Delivering designs from initial estimates through to design acceptance and handover to construction, the electrical design engineer will ensure that designs are technically and commercially complaint. Delivering the designs within agreed internal timescales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering and reviewing electricity infrastructure designs from project acceptance through to design approval and construction handover
  • Review of external designs
  • Offer design support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure designs are delivered to current legislation for the industry and adopting DNO/IDNO specifications
  • Provide customer service to a high standard for both internal and external stakeholders

Job Title: Project Engineer
Key Responsibilities
  • Allocating job packs and other duties to field based operatives
  • Attending client meetings
  • Developing a working understanding of Health & Saftey, Environmental and Quality Standards and support ongoing compliance to these standards
  • Verifying and confirming paperwork for contractors as statement of work, risk assessments as well as ensuring all works are completed as per H & S states
  • Procurement of materials
  • Supervising on going works and reporting back on performance and completion goals
  • Reporting to and liaising with key stakeholders such as senior management, councils, 3rd part contractors, clients and members of the public
Key Skills & Experience:
  • The successful applicant must have a HNC qualification

  • Manage financial aspects of projects through ongoing forecasting

Gas Design Engineer
Key Responsibilities
  • Undertaking outline designs for tendering purposes
  • Detailed designs and submissions for LP, MP, IP distribution networks for domestic, commercial and industrial developments
  • Liaise with Gas Transporters and Independent Gas Transporters regarding design submissions and approvals
  • Assist in submission of Completion Packs to adopting Gas Transporters
  • Assist in correcting rejections of Completion Packs from adopting Gas Transporters and returning for approval
  • Contact clients for resolution of design queries
  • Updating appropriate records for scheme progress
  • Provide technical support for business departments
  • Review external design elements
  • Offer full design support to the tendering team, construction team and clients
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
  • Suitable engineering qualification (Degree/HND or equivalent) City & Guilds 5831 Gas Network Design Qualification or minimum 2-3 years’ experience
  • Experience in designing/ planning LP, MP and IP gas utility infrastructure including Gas governors/Gas Regulators
  • Knowledge of technical specifications of equipment including governors, pipe and fittings Knowledge of GT/ IGT network construction including knowledge of IGE documents
  • Understanding of the current GIRS requirements
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations and N.R.S.W.A
  • Understanding of ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO18001
  • IT Literate (Microsoft Office/Office 365 tools) and Gasworks literate
  • A team player with the ability to work independently

Job Title: Water Design Engineer

Job Title: Estimator

An outstanding career opportunity for an experienced Multi-Utility Estimator to join a successful, rapidly expanding Utility company based in St Helens & Trafford Park. Reporting in to the Commercial Director to determine the costs associated with completing the scope of work in a tender. This position is responsible for preparing cost estimates, communicating with manufacturers to determine the financial needs of completing a project and maintaining profitability at all times.

Estimating:
  • Assess the type of tender, client and closing date of tender to determine prioritization of all tenders.
  • Analyse drawing, specifications and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates.
  • When necessary, refer to previous projects of similar nature for cost comparison.
  • Use Mathematical equations to determine the quantity of material needed by calculating width, length, depth and density.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the scope for specific skills assigned.
  • Prepare, issue, receive and review supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing.
  • Coordinates with the client on all changes in scope, questions or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process.
  • Acts as a resource to project management during the award / start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including materials and methods of construction;
  • Reviews budget and project profitability status and goals with supervision and project team as required. Seeks input on corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures;
  • Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work, during different construction phases;
  • Other Estimating duties as required.
Administrative Duties:
  • Assembles bid-files including all development information that was utilized in preparation of the estimates.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate contact information for suppliers, sub-contractors and clients.
  • Deliver bids on time for tenders closing.
  • Other administrative duties as required.
Work Experience:
  • Estimator experience working within the Utilities sector
  • AUTOCAD experience preferred
